The March 17th National Weather Service Stormspotter training was cancelled by TAEMA (Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency) just a few days before the scheduled date so we put together a quick replacement program for our regular club meeting at Tulsa University…Back to the Basics! We had about 25 in attendance and we answered questions and discussed topics such as POTA logging programs, DMR, Parks on the Air, a new DMR net, the NanoVna, and the Green Country Hamfest. We have made updates to the Weekly CW nights agendas as well as new times for the Sooner Sprint 2026. Thursdays will be a 1 hour Sooner Sprint starting at 7:00 pm Central Daylight time. TARC and Parks On The Air 4/18 Update
The Tulsa Amateur Radio club is a registered club with the Parks On The Air (POTA) program. Beginning in 2026, there will be organized park activations for TARC members who are interested in participating in the program and contributing to club activation statistics as well as accumulating individual contact statistics. The POTA program, and POTA activations, are a great way to develop portable HF deployment skills and capabilities which could be useful for emergency communications as well as an enjoyable aspect to the hobby of amateur radio.
