Public Service Liaison Officer – Bart Pickens

As has been discussed at the last two general member meetings, I’m leaving from the appointed position of Public Service Liaison for TARC. This is due to various health challenges that require my attention and time. There is still a need for a volunteer to do this work for the various events the club supports so I encourage interested members to contact Mark Adams – WA5MA.

This article is to express my sincere appreciation for the opportunity I had to serve the club and the community in this position. This was accomplished with much teamwork from many dedicated hams who enjoy using their communication skills to support the club’s involvement.

I’d love to be able to name each and every ham who put their effort into making this job a pleasure but I’m sure I’d fail to mention someone. If you’ve been part of supporting a bike ride or a parade in the last decade, you know who you are and the amount of work that is done to make each event a success. Please know that your giving attitude, dedication, and commitment was noticed and appreciated by me. Even more importantly, the efforts and skill level was seen by event organizers as being a key part of their event.

Even though I’m stepping aside from this position, I still plan to support TARC events in any way I can. I hope to still be involved in the bike ride support group so this is not really a goodbye. I look forward to seeing all the old hands and lots of new hands helping the club give back to the community. Please give consideration to stepping forward as a new volunteer for this position. I guarantee you won’t regret the opportunity to work closely with such a dedicated group.

Thanks again – 73!

Bart Pickens
