The TARC Nervous Novice Net on Mondays and Thursday evenings is gaining more and more traction on the 40m band. Now that the grey line passes earlier in the evening, our signals are running long, and we are picking up more stations from around the country. And they are all slow and easy copy. We are starting to have “Regulars” stopping by each night which makes the net more comfortable and inviting.
KA6DOY and N5NYT control the Netlogger environment and AIM. We are getting traffic there as well from folks who want to monitor but are not yet ready to dive in with their keys. After a couple sessions though, they join us on the air and never look back!
After the first several rounds of calling CQ NNN and after things slow down, I send it over to KA6DOY who sends out a paragraph at a true 5 wpm for practice copying for those monitoring the frequency.
The net has been running the better part of an hour each evening. We have had a couple run an hour and twenty minutes before we got through all the stations.
If you are thinking about picking up a key and learning morse code, there is no reason to wait. Reach out through the website to myself, Mike KI5EGH or Remell KA6DOY or Daryl N5NYT. We can help getting you on the air.
If there is enough interest, we can look at having another class online or via Zoom, or however works best.
