2025 brings a new emphasis on training in Tulsa County. Attached are the updated ARES Position Task Books (PTB) v3.1 for Tulsa County. One in Microsoft Word format and another in Adobe fillable PDF format. Chose the format you prefer. All Tulsa County ARES members should have their own PTB and work continuously to train on new levels.
The PTB is designed to track and document your progress with training on specific requirements. The PTB is organized with three levels; basic, intermediate, and advanced. Start documenting your progress with the basic level. There are some tasks that are optional or encouraged. Please pay close attention to each.
Resources:
- ARRL provides online training at https://learn.arrl.org This includes basic through advanced. You need to be a current and paid member of the ARRL and will need to set up a separate sign on from your ARRL credentials. Save and print your certificates after you pass your online exams.
- FEMA provides online training at https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=is-100.c&lang=en This is the link for the ICS-100 course. You to establish a Student ID with FEMA. That SID will stay with you throughout your training. Save and print your certificates after you pass your online exams.
- The Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps provides great training and certification. You will need to join OKMRC at https://www.okmrc.org/ Once you establish your account you can use some of your FEMA ICS training to meet requirements. If you need assistance getting started with OKMRC let me know and I will connect with OKMRC resources to help.
- Participate in our weekly nets to gain additional information about our training program in 2025. Weeks 1-3 the net is called on different frequencies within the Tulsa metro. Weeks 4 and 5 the net is called on the W5IAS SuperLink system. In Tulsa the frequency is 443.850 with a PL of 88.5.
- The Tulsa County ARES PTB is a living document and will be updated over time to meet the needs of our served agencies.
