End Fed Long Wire Antenna

By: W5AWS Motivation From the point of view of efficiency, tuning an antenna to resonance at the fre-quency of transmission makes sense in that it ensures maximum transfer of power, which is all well and good until we QSY to another frequency, forcing a need to re-tune or acceptance of the impedance mismatch and reflected power in the feed-line. An End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW) is an antenna that is a half-wavelength at the lowest frequency of operation, making the odd and even harmonics of the fundamental frequency available across the bands for which it is designed to work; even so, an […]

TARC Meeting Minutes April 2023

On Tuesday, 18 April 2023 at 1900 hours local, Mark, WA5MA, called to order the meeting of the Tulsa Amateur Radio Club in Room-3140 of Keplinger Hall at the University of Tulsa. CW for the Hearing Impaired

A Handheld Vibrational Device Delivering CW to Hearing-Impaired Individuals There are many students in our club over the age of 50 that have various hearing impairments. Through the hard and dedicated work of an LICW committee which made an initial haptic prototype, then improved by Bob WO6W, we now have a patent pending effective vibrational CW decoding device. This device is now being made available to LICW membership and the public.  This will also be an interesting aid for those with good hearing because feeling the code creates alternate white matter pathways to the mind which can aid in one’s […]

In case you missed it The President of the United States has the State of the Union address, the Governor has the State of the State address and I gave a State of the Tulsa Amateur Radio Club address at the March meeting on the 21st. Well maybe not quite as formal, but I’ve been President of TARC for just over 2 years now and I think it’s important that you know just how far the club has come in those 2 years (there’s a list as long as my arm). Here are the activities that the club is currently […]
