HAMFEST/CONVENTION The Nixa ARC hamfest is used to raise funds to support the Southwest Missouri Linked Repeater System of which the Nixa ARC is a founding partner. In 2024, we were able to add a new repeater in Golden City, MO to help cover the Joplin, Barton County and other areas out into Kansas and Oklahoma much better. This repeater is linked to the SMLRS 100% of the time and can be accessed on 146.790-, PL 91.5 Hz. HamCation® is the 2nd largest gathering of radio amateurs in the world annually. HamCation will kick off on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, February 9-11, hosted at the Central Florida Fairgrounds and Expo Park in Orlando, an 87-acre lakefront fairground. HamCation is sponsored by the Orlando Amateur Radio Club, an ARRL-affiliated club, and is supported by volunteers from radio clubs throughout the region. The origins of the Huntsville Hamfest date back to August 1954 when the annual North Alabama Hamfest alternated between the communities of Huntsville, Decatur, and Florence. After a few years the Hamfest was held in Decatur in the odd numbered years and in Huntsville in the even numbered years. The Huntsville location was in the lobby of what was known as “The Mall”, located at the corner of University Drive and the Parkway, and was a one-day (Sunday) event with an outdoor flea market and a Saturday night banquet.
