DESCRIPTION:HAMFEST/CONVENTION \nThe Nixa ARC hamfest is used to raise funds to support the Southwest Missouri Linked Repeater System of which the Nixa ARC is a founding partner. In 2024\, we were able to add a new repeater in Golden City\, MO to help cover the Joplin\, Barton County and other areas out into Kansas and Oklahoma much better. This repeater is linked to the SMLRS 100% of the time and can be accessed on 146.790-\, PL 91.5 Hz. This repeater was made possible by funds from past successful hamfests and we thank everyone that’s been involved. This fall\, we have plans to completely overhaul the 147.015+ PL 162.2 Hz Springfield East repeater and it should be ready to show off by this year’s hamfest. DESCRIPTION:  \nLocation: River West Festival Park. \nStart checking your essential gear: reflective vest\, bike rack (or pickup bed)\, mobile radio with at least 25 watts\, (optional) handheld radio for use when out of vehicle\, first aid kit\, ice chest\, personal comfort items\, cover for seats to be used by sweaty riders\, (optional) bike repair kit\, air pump (TARC has loanable pumps). These are the basic items and you can supplement the list as you see fit. \nThis ride will be using only the APRS units provided by the Tulsa Repeater Organization and the APRS digipeaters provided by TARC. If you have your own APRS\, please plan to use one of the provided units so the unit numbers are more easily tracked on the TRO computer system. Net Control will only be looking for those unit numbers on the mapping sys-tem so outside APRS IDs will not show up on the system for tracking. \nE-mail any questions to me and plan on a good time. SUMMARY:Severe Weather Awareness Expo
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to bring the Severe Weather Awareness Expo back to Woodland Hills Mall on Saturday\, April 6th from 11AM-3pm! This fun event intends to educate the community of severe weather safety and resources available to them. \nAttendees can visit with meteorologists and storm chasers from local news stations KJRH Channel 2\, KOTV Channel 6\, KTUL Channel 8\,  KOKI Fox23\, 98.5 The Bull radio station\, and meteorologist Aaron Tuttle. In addition\, on hand will be meteorologists from the National Weather Service and other industry professionals from non-profit and governmental entities and private businesses.  Families can enjoy photo opportunities with first response vehicles and storm chasing vehicles outside in the Pinecone Parking lot on the north side of the mall. The first 150 guests will receive a free Woodland Hills Mall umbrella.
